Our Mission

Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International, is a professional service organization composed of pre-law students, legal educators, attorneys, judges, and government officials.

Phi Alpha Delta was founded in 1902 for the purpose of promoting professional competency and achievement within the legal profession. Since the beginning, Phi Alpha Delta has experienced astounding growth and today is the world’s largest law fraternity. The PAD Pre-Law Program was established in 1980 and in less than 20 years has reached a position of prominence at universities across the U.S.

Phi Alpha Delta strives to connect its pre-law members with its law student and practicing attorney members. Phi Alpha Delta is committed to providing resources and information to assist undergraduate students in making an informed choice about a career in law. Visit pad.org for more information.

Our Chapter

UNC’s chapter of Phi Alpha Delta is comprised of a dedicated group of students who are interested in the legal profession. Our objective is to prepare students for the law school application process and enable them to make informed decisions about law school.

Members of PAD attend bi-weekly chapter meetings held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Guest speakers, including law school deans, law students, LSAT test prep companies, and local attorneys, often talk at chapter meetings.

Although PAD is focused on professional and academic development, we also value community service and social events.  Our community service committee provides volunteer opportunities for members to give back to the Chapel Hill community. Members can also learn about law internships in the area. Social events include dinners, formals, and fundraisers.
